Today on the blog I'm sharing my tips on how to throw the perfect tailgate. Yes we're talking derby! I wanted to create a set that was both sweet and fun, but also gets you in touch with your southern roots. Of course I did so by incorporating different textures with linen and burlap, and then added a splash of pink. But there's a lot more to it to throwing the perfect tailgating experience!

First, you need to decide on your theme (or color coordination) and then work your way to the table set up. As I stated before I went with linen, burlap, and pink, and then decided everything else from there. Everything that was picked out had to fit inside the theme and I thought, "hmm...why don't we drink from mason jars?!" or "this tin watering can would be perfect for holding pink hydrangeas!"
Oh, the ideas only kept coming!

We served finger foods, macaroons, and of course---raspberry sweet tea! YUM!

We even went the extra mile and garnished our mason jars with lemon wedges and little umbrellas. Can you say "Cheers!"

After the table was decorated, the drinks stirred, and the food prepped, it was time to move on to the best part (and most of all, fun part)...the car's trunk! I mean, what's a tailgate without the tail end of your vehicle!?
I found the most adorable burlap flag banners here {for only $5} and had them hung at the top of the truck door. Then we gathered all our coordinating pillows and blankets and propped them appropriately for a comfortable seating area. Now that's what you call 'Tailgating in Style!'
Tip: bring tape, or string, if you're planning on hanging anything because the gusts of winds are pretty strong on track grounds.
