Hey everyone! I'm so excited to be writing this post, because I'll be talking a little bit about my favorite part of doing my makeup --- the highlight! Y'all, when highlighting first made it's way into the new makeup routine, I was a little intimidated at first. Thankfully, with a little practice and finding the right one(s) that work with my skin type and foundation, I've figured it out and have been obsessed ever since! I own over 10 different brands of highlight, only because I'm always interested in finding what works and what doesn't. So far, only 4 types of highlights really stand out in my mind. And that's what I'll be sharing with you today! My top FAVORITE highlighters:
AMREZY Highlighter by Anastasia Beverly Hills:
I actually bought this highlighter last week and have been using it ever since! I remember seeing this in a Youtube video, forgot about it, and then saw it when I went to Ulta. I was not expecting to buy another highlighter, and was actually shopping for mascara and dry shampoo, but just look at how GORG it is --- I couldn't help myself! It's super glowy and blends so well! I did notice that you have to get through the top layer first to really see that glow! Once I got through the top layer coat, I saw a huge difference and was so blinding on the cheek...I love it! So you definitely don't need to swipe on a lot if you like a more subtle shine.
GOLDEN DIAMOND ILLUMINATOR by Ulta Beauty:
Obviously, this was my #1 for the longest time, I mean I just hit the pan! It really is such a good highlighter, and you also can't beat that price (only $10). This was also my very first successful highlighter that I purchased; it blends well and gives off a soft golden glow on the cheeks. It's perfect for summer time and will help enhance a natural glow too! If I ever feel like I want a more natural/softer look for my makeup, this is the one that I'll go to!
LUMI SHIMMERISTA by Loreal
Now this highlighter is so so good and super pigmented! It is a loose powder instead of a compact, and features some glitter specks to help enhance that glow! It too also blends very well and definitely gives off a blinding glow just as much as the Amrezy. The reason why it's number 3 on my list? It only comes in two colors: this rose gold color and white. I love that I own a really good pinkish highlighter, but you can only use it on your cheeks and not on your nose or around the brow bone. If you use it in those areas, you'll look pretty pink in the face. But this is a great highlighter overall if you don't usually wear blush. I really do hope they extend the line and release these shimmers with more natural colors!
STROBELIGHT INSTANT GLOW by Milani
I always have nothing but good things to say about the Milani brand, and they did it again with this subtle highlighter! It comes in 4 other shades that will will help enhance what ever look you're going for! It applies and blends beautifully, and it also builds up very well if you're looking to add more! The one I own is in the darkest shade 'Glowing' and comes in lighter shades. I promise you can't go wrong with this brand of highlighter!
